141schools.org is a citizen web movement dedicated to the memory of the lives lost in the Peshawar school attack on December 16, 2014 in Pakistan. In collaboration with The Citizens Foundation (TCF), we provide a platform for Pakistani locals, expats and other concerned folks from around the world to connect with and contribute to the 141 Schools For Peace campaign. 141schools.org is a not-for-profit social initiative registered in Canada.
141 SCHOOLS FOR PEACE
“141 Schools for Peace” is an initiative of The Citizens Foundation (TCF), in partnership with the 141Schools.org project. It is a global commitment to build 141 school-units across Pakistan, each school will display a plaque dedicated in memory of each of the innocent victims of the Peshawar school attack on December 16, 2014.
In response to this horrific and universal tragedy, we have decided to channel our grief into action. It has renewed our resolve to fighting ignorance and intolerance in all its forms with the most powerful weapon of all: education. In this defining moment, we believe that only education can equip Pakistan to tackle its formidable challenges: by enlightening minds, instilling democratic values, and building a conscientious and tolerant civil society.
We call upon concerned people across the world to step forward to support the movement to educate Pakistan. Each of the 141 schools will have a plaque dedicated to the children and teachers who perished on the 16th of December and will serve as a beacon of light resisting the advance of extremism in the world.
1 YEAR UPDATE - DECEMBER 16, 2015
A year ago, 141schools.org partnered with The Citizens Foundation (TCF) to launch the ‘141 Schools for Peace’ initiative. We committed to building a school in the memory of each of the innocent lives lost in the horrific attack on a Peshawar school in December 2014. Thank you for supporting this effort and bringing the vision of 141 Schools for Peace closer to becoming a reality.
We are pleased to share with you that, thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from all over the world, construction has now started on the 23rd TCF school unit as part of the 141 Schools for Peace campaign.
While a number of donors have generously committed to building an entire school, helpful contributions from all other donors are being used for the construction of a new primary school in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be called the ‘141 Schools for Peace Campus’. Construction for this campus will be completed within 2016 and the school will have a capacity of 180 students.
The Peshawar tragedy will be etched in our collective memory, as a reminder of the destructive power of ignorance and intolerance. We are confident that the 141 Schools for Peace we build together will stand as a lasting symbol of hope, resilience and our shared resolve to educate all the children of Pakistan.
Thank you for supporting our campaign.
